Restoration aims to bring the existing finish back to life and can greatly improve appearance however it may not remove deep damage. A refinish involves stripping the existing finish off down to raw wood, removing any damage to the wood, then staining and applying a new finish. The refinish process usually brings your furniture back to near new condition and costs roughly twice as much as a restoration.
